New Milford Makes List Of Safest NJ Towns

Alarms.org looked at violent crime rate as part of its annual rankings.

NEW MILFORD, NJ — The borough was named one of the safest municipalities in New Jersey in a new ranking.

Alarms.org released it annual list of the safest cities in New Jersey recently. New Milford was ranked No. 9. It was ranked No. 2 last year. New Milford logged two violent crimes and 75 property crimes.

River Vale was ranked at No. 1 for the second consecutive year. It logged one violent crime and 15 property crimes. It boasts a property crime rate of just 2.59 per 1,000 residents, according to the website.

Other Bergen County municipalities ranked in the top 20 were: Tenafly at No. 5, Hillsdale at No. 6, Westwood at No. 10, Bergenfield No. 12, and Hasbrouck Heights at No. 13.
