New Milford Man Beat Infant Until It Couldn't Breathe: Prosecutor

The infant had head trauma, authorities said.

NEW MILFORD, NJ — A borough man was charged with aggravated assault after authorities said a child who was not breathing was brought to the hospital with head trauma.

Travis Weber, 28, of New Milford was also charged with endangering the welfare of a child, said acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo.

New Milford police officers responded to a 911 call Wednesday about an infant who was not breathing, Calo said.

Head trauma was found on the infant during an examination at Valley Hospital, Calo said.

New Milford police officers and the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Special Victims Unit investigated and found out Weber had custody of the infant when the head trauma occurred, Calo said.

Weber is being held in authorities' custody pending his first court appearance.

The infant was released from the hospital to family members.
