New Milford Man Killed By NJ Transit Train
The man was killed at about 12:12 p.m. by a Pascack Valley line train that was between the River Edge and Oradell stations, NJ Transit said.
NEW MILFORD, NJ — A 26-year-old New Milford man died Sunday after he was struck by an NJ Transit train in River Edge.
The man, John Follety, was killed at about 12:12 p.m. by a train on the Pascack Valley line that was between the River Edge and Oradell stations, said Nancy Synder, an NJ Transit spokesperson.
None of the 34 people on board the train were injured, Synder said.

Service on the Pascack Valley line was suspended between New Bridge Landing in River Edge and Oradell until 2:45 p.m., Synder said.
The New Milford Knights football team expressed it condolences to Follety's family, friends, and loved ones.

"New Milford Football mourns the passing of 2011 graduate John Follety today at age 26," the team said in a Facebook post. "Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and loved ones."
Follety died a few days after a father and a son were seriously injured after a NJ Transit train struck a car near New Bridge Landing, The Record reported.
