NPR's Selected Shorts Coming to New Milford Library in June

This free event will feature Jill Eikenberry and Michael Tucker reading from short fiction.

National Public Radio's (NPR) award-winning series Selected Shorts is coming to New Milford Public Library on June 27 at 7:30 p.m. Selected Shorts has been described as a story time for adults. It consists of contemporary and classic short fiction read to a live audience by stars of stage and screen. The evening will feature film, stage and television actors Jill Eickenberry and Michael Tucker reading from selected short stories.

New Milford's Library Director, Terri McColl said that Selected Shorts has been performing at various libraries throughout the Bergen County Cooperative Library System (BCCLS) for a number of years and she was finally able to bring the series to New Milford. The BCCLS includes 74 Public Libraries in Bergen, Essex, Hudson, and Passaic Counties.

"I felt that we needed to have Selected Shorts in New Milford -- the heart of BCCLS," McColl said.

With financial support from The Friends of the Library and BCCLS, McColl was able to bring this distinguished series to New Milford. 

"It's such an honor and a thrill for New Milford to host this event," McColl said. "To have one of the most popular programs on NPR here in New Milford is an incredible honor.
