This article was reported and written by Paramus Patch Editor Alana Quartuccio.

Paramus' Joseph Lagana, the borough's council president, has been chosen to replace Assemblywoman Connie Wagner on theDemocratic ticket on the November ballot this November, according to NorthJersey.com.

Lagana, an attorney with the law firm Chasan, Leyner and Lamparello in Secaucus, was first elected to the council in 2011

Wagner, also of Paramus, pulled out of the race this monthannouncing family reasons which will require her to spend much of her time travelling to and from Florida.

Wagner is a three-term assemblywoman in this district which serves Bergen and parts of Passaic. She is a former Paramus councilwoman and former Bergen County freeholder.

Lagana will join Assemblyman Timothy Eustace, of Maywood and Senator Bob Gordon of Fair Lawn both of whom are seeking re-election.

They will face Republican challengers Joan Fragala of Fair Lawn and Joseph Scarpa of Rochelle Park who seek Assembly seats and Oradell's Fernando Alonso who is looking to unseat Gordon for the Senate seat.
