Planning Board Meeting Tonight

Gospel Fellowship Church on tonight's agenda

The Christian congregation church looking to make the Riverview Racquet Club their new home is on tonight's Planning Board agenda. The , a primarily Korean congregation, currently located in Bergenfield, is undergoing the application process to move to New Milford.

In August, Borough Construction Official James Taormina wrote to the Planning Board, stating that he found the church’s “architectural plans to be incomplete.” Letters from both Taormina and NMPD Chief Frank Papapietro questioned the church’s plans to use the site as a daycare facility, which was proposed in their original application.

Deacon Jonathan Kim of Gospel Fellowship Church had clarified for the board that they would not use the church as a daily daycare facility, but would host “Sunday school”-type classes for the youth of the congregation during Sunday services, but the board explained that they need to be made aware of all the intentional uses of the building.

Also of concern are the that may result in granting this application. During the September 27th meeting, the board requested that the Church's traffic expert, Bahman Izadmehr, a transportation civil engineer, continue his observation of the intersection of River Rd. and Henley Ave. in order to devise a more accurate analysis of traffic patterns at the intersection of the proposed site.

The Planning Board Meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers of Borough Hall.
