A recount Thursday of the Nov. 8 election results affirmed Hedy Grant as the winner in the race for town council, unseating incumbent Celeste Scavetta, according to county officials.
The preliminary numbers showed that Scavetta had lost the election by ten votes. However, she gained two additional votes after the provisional ballots were counted, resulting in a loss by only eight votes.

A day long check of the ballots at a Board of Elections office in Carlstadt found no change in the outcome of the original election results, county officials said Friday. The recount was certified to the Hon. Estela M. De La Cruz.
Scavetta acknowledged that the count remains the same, and declined further comment Thursday night.
