Town Awarded Grant to Purchase Van Eck Property

$50,000 towards razing house and creating recreational space

 

The borough has been awarded a $50,000 grant from the Bergen County Open Space fund to be put towards the purchase of the , on Steuben Lane along the Hackensack River, the mayor said at a meeting Monday. 

"The property is at the end of Steuben Lane and abuts the New Milford Woods and fits nicely into the borough's recreational open space," Mayor Ann Subrizi said.

The Borough Council voted to authorize the purchase of the Steuben Lane property at its Aug. 22nd meeting. 

The actual purchase price of the property is $60,000. Subrizi said that the additional $10,000 will be taken from New Milford's "open space" fund.

Public records show the property was last valued at $256,900 in 2010.
