Traffic Stop in New Milford Leads to Chase, Crash into Building

At around 3 a.m. on Friday morning New Milford Police Officer Michael Lafrano noticed a Mercedes SUV speeding on Boulevard near Reichelt Road

Lafrano attempted to stop the Mercedes but the driver ignored his efforts and continued onto Faller Drive. Brian Clancy, New Milford Police Department sergeant, noticed the situation and also attempted to stop the vehicle. 

After continuing to elude officers the Mercedes eventually crashed into 336 Faller Dr. at which point the driver got out of the vehicle and ran. Officers followed on foot and apprehended the driver as he attempted to hide behind a dumpster.

“This all took place within a half-mile radius, a couple of blocks really,” said New Milford Police Chief Frank Papapietro. “Luckily no one was hurt.”

When asked about the handling of the situation Papapietro said, “they stayed within the Attorney General guidelines and handled the situation very professionally.” 

The driver of the vehicle was identified as Quincy J. Hilliard, 30 of New Milford. Hilliard is being charged with resisting arrest, leaving the scene of an accident, driving with a suspended license, speeding and careless driving.

The New Milford Fire Department was called to check the structural integrity of the building after significant damaged was caused to multiple units located at 336 Faller Dr. None of the residents of the apartments were injured.
