Berkeley Heights Police Investigate Reports of Fraud, Theft

A fraudulent purchase froze one resident's bank account, while another resident's iPhone was stolen from a local fitness center.

 

On Saturday, April 14, Ptl. Daniel Cuocci investigated a report of fraud. 

A Berkeley Heights resident reported that when he had attempted to use his business debit card, it was declined.  When he contacted his bank, he was advised that a fraudulent purchase had been made in the amount of $667.48 and the account had been frozen.

A few days later, on April 18, Ptl. Ron DeSimoni investigated a reported theft. 

The victim reported that her son’s Apple iPhone, valued at $200, was stolen while he was playing basketball at a fitness center on Connell Drive.

The theft took place between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. 

Both matters have been referred to the Investigations Division.
