New Providence police are searching for a home burglar who also likely damaged a borough street sign. A High Street resident told police Saturday that someone broke into the home by damaging a basement window. The homeowner said a "large amount" of alcohol was found in the basement of the house. Police also said that a street sign was ripped out of the ground in front of the home.  Authorities are following up on several leads and request anyone with information to call 908-665-1111.
