Local Justice: Decisions in Municipal Court

The Municipal Court handled three criminal cases arising in Berkeley Heights. New Providence did not have any criminal dispositions.

In State v. Kelly R.  Boccandutre, of Pittstown, the State charged defendant with possession of drug paraphernalia.  The Court granted a conditional discharge.  The Court imposed a one-year term of probation and also imposed $800 in fines, costs, and surcharges. 

In State v. Mathias A. Fernandez, of Elizabeth, the State charged defendant with possession of marijuana.  The Court granted a conditional discharge.  The Court imposed a one-year term of probation and also imposed $800 in fines, costs, and surcharges.

In State v. Mohammed E. Hassan, of Califon, the State charged defendant with possession of marijuana.  The defendant pleaded guilty.  The Court imposed a $500 fine, $30 in costs, and $675.00 in surcharges.

The convenes every other Thursday in the New Providence Municipal Center, located at 360 Elkwood Ave. The next court date is scheduled for Oct. 6, 2011.
