New Providence, Berkeley Heights Are Top 100 NJ Towns: NJ Monthly
New Providence and Berkeley Heights are near the top of New Jersey Monthly magazine's annual ranking of the top towns in the Garden State.
NEW PROVIDENCE/BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ — New Providence and Berkeley Heights were ranked among the top 100 towns in New Jersey by New Jersey Monthly magazine for 2019.
New Jersey Monthly looked at several factors to determine the rankings, including average tax bills, the average change in tax bills since 2016, median home prices and their changes since 2016, the crime rate per 1,000 residents, and local high schools' rank by New Jersey Monthly.
Berkeley Heights was ranked No. 23. New Providence was ranked No. 47.

The median home value in Berkeley Heights was $602,500 in 2018, a 7.6 percent increase from 2016.
The local high school was ranked No. 30 by New Jersey Monthly.

In New Providence, the median home value was $579,000 in 2018, a 1.2 percent decrease since 2016.
The local high school was ranked No. 9 in New Jersey by the magazine.
