New Providence Recreation Unveils Community Art Project
Hundreds of wooden blocks were passed out to community and turned into individual works of art by local residents, which created BLOCKS: A Collaborative Community Art Project.
The New Providence Recreation Department unveiled BLOCKS: A Collaborative Community Art Project on Friday, Oct. 28, with remarks by the artist and project organizer.
Over the past six months, Marjan Nirou Saniee, artist-in-residence and instructor at New Providence Recreation, has collected hundreds of wooden blocks that were passed out to the community and were turned into individual works of art by New Providence residents of all ages, from pre-k to senior citizens, according to a press release from the New Providence Recreation Department. These blocks have then been put together into a unified mural that will be on permanent display for the community to enjoy for many years to come.
There were a total of 425 wooden blocks that were put together as a unified mural that is on permanent display in the Recreation Center offices, according to Herman Lee, a New Providence resident.
