Authorities Investigating Death Of Oakland Man

John Edwards, 41, was pronounced dead Monday afternoon after a family member called police for help, authorities said.

OAKLAND, NJ — Police are investigating the "unattended death" of an Oakland man on Monday, authorities said.

John Edwards, 41, was pronounced dead after authorities responded to a call for medical assistance from a family member at a Page Drive home Monday, said Capt. Keith Sanzari.

Medical professionals and police arrived and Edwards was pronounced dead at the scene, Sanzari said.

The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office and Bergen County Medical Examiner's Office responded to the scene and helped police with their investigation, Sanzari said.

Authorities determined that Edwards' death was deemed "non-suspicious," the captain said.

Edwards' body was taken to the Bergen County Medical Examiner Office where an official cause of death is pending, Sanzari said.
