Borough Extends Deadline for Filing Taxes

The Oakland Borough Council Wednesday night pushed the property tax deadline for Oakland residents back a few weeks.

Mayor Linda Schwager said that due to delays at the county level in certifying the municipality’s property taxes, residents have been late in receiving their annual bills from the borough.

She said that the bills will be mailed July 29, and that under state regulations the borough must provide 25 days for residents to send their checks, pushing the deadline back to Aug. 23.
