OAKLAND, NJ — Charges are pending against the pickup truck driver who police said collided with two school buses after crossing over into oncoming traffic in a Skyline Drive crash Monday afternoon.
The truck and its 21-year-old driver were going northbound on Skyline Drive when it crossed over the double yellow line and hit the school buses, which were going southbound, at about 4 p.m., said Lt. Timothy Keenan. The buses were from Spring Lake Day Camp in nearby Ringwood. The children were being taken home from the camp when the crash occurred, Keenan said.
There were 30 children on the buses, 16 in one and 14 in the other, Keenan said. They were all examined by emergency medical technicians at the crash site. No further medical attention was needed, and they were taken to Valley Middle School and returned to their parents, Keenan said.
