Indian Hills HS Musical Earns Standing Ovation

Students from Wyckoff, Franklin Lakes and Oakland came together to deliver a riveting performance on Thursday evening.

The students at Indian Hills High School hit the stage on Thursday for the long-awaited opening night of their spring musical Into the Woods.

Into the Woods is a musical that features classic characters such as Cinderella, Rapunzel and Little Red Riding Hood and has taken home a handful of Tony Awards over the years.

“The performance went off without a hitch. I am over the moon and so proud of every single one of the cast members,” said Julia Moran. “I can’t believe we were able to do something like this at a high school level. It’s truly amazing."

Director Kim Marino has been working with her cast since early February and was thrilled with the performance.

“I am beyond proud. I was moved to tears when they all got a standing ovation at the end,” said Director Kim Marino.

Marino’s hard work didn’t go unnoticed. Not only did her cast receive a standing ovation for their work, the cast was very thankful of their director.

“There is no possible way we could have done this without [Marino],” said Kaitlyn Holohan. “It was just the most amazing experience. I’ve never worked with someone so professional before. We all knew it would be a challenge to do this, it’s such a big show, but we were able to pull it off was so important to us. We absolutely love this show and love everything about this experience.”

The cast was very enthusiastic when talking about the next two performances and seemed eager to get back out on stage.

The costumes alone are worth the price of admission so be sure to catch one of the final two performances on Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Auditorium at Indian Hills.
