Oakland Police Arrest 3 On DUI Charges In December
Police arrested one person after an erratic driver was reported on Chunkanutt Drive a few days before Christmas, authorities said.
OAKLAND, NJ — Three people were arrested and charged with driving under the influence earlier this month, police said.
There were two incidents on Dec. 20:
- Officer Michael Griffin investigated a suspicious vehicle parked in Great Oak Park. Matthew Duffy, 52, of Franklin Lakes was charged with driving under the influence, said Detective Lt. Christian Eldridge. Duffy was processed and released from custody to an acquaintance with an Oakland Municipal Court date.
- Sgt. Keith Docwra investigated a complaint about an erratic driver on Chuckanutt Drive. The vehicle was found on Massasoit Trail, Eldridge said. Jared Spingler, 37, of Oakland was charged with driving under the influence. He was processed and released from custody to an acquaintance with an Oakland Municipal Court date.
The third incident occurred Saturday after police conducted a motor vehicle stop on Ramapo Valley Road.

Police investigated and arrested Beverly Barnes, 54, of Towaco, Eldridge said. He was processed and released from custody to an acquaintance with an Oakland Municipal Court date.
