Woman Charged In Bergen County Hit-And-Run: Prosecutor
A woman was charged for hitting a pedestrian in River Edge on Tuesday night and leaving the scene, prosecutors said.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A Bergenfield woman was arrested on Tuesday after she hit a pedestrian in River Edge and left the scene, prosecutors said.
Demetria York, 47, was charged with knowingly leaving the scene of an accident resulting in serious bodily injury, endangering an injured victim, and hindering apprehension, the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office said Wednesday.
Prosecutors said that around 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday, the River Edge Police Department responded to crash involving a pedestrian on Kinderkamack Road near the intersection with Windsor Road.

Police found a 35-year-old woman with serious injuries, and determined that the vehicle that hit her had left the scene, prosecutors said.
The victim was taken to Hackensack Medical Center, prosecutors said.

An investigation determined that a 2009 Nissan Sentra struck her as she was trying to cross Kinderkamack Road, prosecutors said.
Detectives later found the vehicle and determined that York had been driving it, prosecutors said.
After York was arrested on Tuesday, she was taken to the Bergen County Jail to await a first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, prosecutors said.
