Bay Avenue Reopens After Sinkhole Repair

The county road in Ocean City had been closed since April 10.

Bay Avenue reopened to traffic in both directions on Tuesday (April 16).

The county road had been closed between 18th and 22nd streets for almost a week — ever since a sinkhole appeared in the road on April 10. The hole was about six feet in diameter and 10 feet deep.

About 138 feet of sewer line and a gas main were repaired before the road surface was patched. Only residents were permitted to access their home streets as work continued.
