Broadway Actor Supports Ocean City Theater On Giving Tuesday
The Ocean City Theatre Company alum addressed hardships that the theater has endured throughout the pandemic in a two-minute video.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — Michael Lee Brown, an actor who performed in the Broadway musical “Dear Evan Hansen,” shared a message on social media for Giving Tuesday: the Ocean City Theatre Company needs help.
The Ocean City Theatre Company alum addressed hardships that the theater has endured throughout the pandemic in a two-minute video posted on social media Monday and encouraged viewers to support the theater with donations.
“Theater and the arts are so valuable in every community and that includes Ocean City, New Jersey, so please show your love and give to the Ocean City Theatre Company,” Brown said in the video.

Before Brown starred as the title role in the Tony Award and Grammy winning musical “Dear Evan Hansen,” Brown performed in plays showcased by the Ocean City Theatre Company during his summer vacations as a teenager.
In the video Brown recalled acting in Ocean City Theatre Company productions like “Oklahoma,” “Grease” and a cabaret titled “Future Stars of Broadway.” He said exactly ten years passed between the day he debuted in the "Future Stars of Broadway" cabaret and his first performance as the title role in “Dear Evan Hansen.”

“A huge part of my success on Broadway has to do with the Ocean City Theatre Company. I’ve been coming to Ocean City, New Jersey, since as long as I can remember every summer and every summer I would spend working with the Ocean City Theatre Company,” Brown said.
Donations to the Ocean City Theatre Company can be sent by texting "OCTC" to 474747. Checks can be made payable to OCTC and mailed to 1501 West Ave., Ocean City.
