Cape May Co. Captain Gets Lifetime Achievement Award
Capt. Ashlee Marriner was awarded for her "outstanding" career in law enforcement, particularly her dedication to child protection.

CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE, NJ — The Cape May County Prosecutor's Office is celebrating as one of their own has received a prestigious award.
Capt. Ashlee Marriner was recently honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Mid-Atlantic Association of Women in Law Enforcement (MAAWLE), Prosecutor Jeffrey T. Sutherland announced.
The award recognizes Marriner's “outstanding” career, leadership and continued dedication to advancing law enforcement professionalism and community wellbeing, Sutherland said.

“Captain Marriner’s dedication, leadership, and compassion have made an enduring impact not only on this office but on the citizens of Cape May County,” Sutherland said. “Her accomplishments exemplify the highest standards of public service and reflect her lifelong commitment to justice, integrity, and the welfare of others.”
Marriner serves as Cape May County’s Master Resiliency Officer, where she has been instrumental in promoting officer wellness and mental health initiatives, ensuring that the well-being of law enforcement professionals remains a top priority, Sutherland said.

She also serves as the Coordinator for the Cape May County Child Abduction Response Team (CART), which recently achieved federal accreditation certification—a rigorous process that reflects the team’s excellence in readiness, coordination, and investigative standards in child abduction cases.
In addition, Marriner has previously been recognized for her investigative expertise in child abuse cases, and she played a vital role in the creation of the Cape May County Child Advocacy Center. This center embodies a community-based, multidisciplinary approach to child abuse investigations, designed to reduce trauma for child victims and non-offending family members, improve case outcomes, and ensure comprehensive support services are provided to those in need.
“Captain Marriner’s lifelong dedication to protecting children, supporting victims, and strengthening our law enforcement community has left an indelible mark on Cape May County,” Sutherland added. “We are proud to celebrate this well-deserved recognition of her remarkable achievements.”
