Crews Continue To Clear Streets, Alleys In Ocean City

OCEAN CITY, NJ — Crews were still working to clear Ocean City's roads and alleys on Tuesday following a storm that blanketed the city in 14 inches of snow.

Emergency routes, north-south avenues and numbered streets in Ocean City are now passable, according to Mayor Jay Gillian.

“Our public works team has been working around-the-clock since the day before the storm and made great progress under extremely challenging conditions,” said Gillian in a storm update on Tuesday. “We have every staff member and every plow working.”

The city’s fleet will continue to clear all other streets and alleys.

“Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to recover from this exceptional snowfall,” Gillian said. “Be cautious in shoveling out your properties, and please look after your neighbors.”

Trash and recycling pickup was suspended again on Tuesday. The contractor will work to complete all routes by the end of the week.

The Ocean City Community Center, including the Aquatic and Fitness Center and the Ocean City Free Public Library, reopened at noon on Tuesday.

The Howard S. Stainton Senior Center remained closed on Tuesday. City Hall is open on a regular schedule.
