OCEAN CITY, NJ — Earlier this year, Ocean City officials voted to approve doggy daycares on the island. Now, someone hopes to actually open one.

JJG Property Management, LLC will go before the Zoning Board of Adjustment later this month seeking to open a dog hotel and daycare, according to zoning board documents.

While the city changed the language to allow dog daycares, the applicant still needs to get a variance approved to open the business. Proper licensing is also required.

The unnamed dog hotel would be located at 204 7th St., which is an existing commercial building. It would undergo minor renovations to accommodate the dogs, including the installation of 31 dog kennels, an indoor dog run and an outdoor synthetic turf area, according to the application documents.

There would also be a 6-foot high vinyl fence around that outdoor turf area.
