Driver ID'd In Jersey Shore Hit-Run That Left Man, 92, Injured: Police

The 92-year-old man was found lying in the street after a woman driving an SUV hit him and fled the scene, police said.

VENTNOR, NJ — The driver responsible for a November hit-and-run that left a 92-year-old man seriously injured and lying in the street has been identified, according to Ventnor City police.

Shortly after 6 p.m. on Nov. 20, Ventnor City police received multiple 911 calls about a pedestrian who was hit by a motor vehicle at Ventnor and Newport avenues, according to a release. Read more: Jersey Shore Hit-And-Run Left 92-Year-Old Man Lying In Roadway, Police Say

The vehicle was described as a white Volvo SUV, possibly model XC40. An investigation found that the SUV had a Delaware registration.

The driver of the SUV was identified as Leslie Myers, 51, of Welden Park, DE, police said. She was charged on a warrant with assault by auto, leaving the scene of an accident causing serious bodily injury and additional motor vehicle summonses.

Myers was taken into custody by O'Hara Township police in Pennsylvania on Jan. 7, police said. She is being held in Allegheny County Jail awaiting extradition to New Jersey.

“This case was extremely impactful to my officers. They put in a lot of hours identifying the accused and bringing charges forth,” said Police Chief Joseph Wootten. “I am proud of the hard work and effort they went through in bringing closure to this investigation.”
