Environmental Family Fun Day Returns To Ocean City

OCEAN CITY, NJ — Looking for something fun and educational for the kids to do this President's Day weekend? The Sixth Annual Ocean City Nature & The Environment Family Fun Day returns on Feb. 15.

This family-friendly event runs 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Ocean City High School cafeteria. This year's program will include a wide range of nature and environmentally focused hands-on, interactive, fun and educational experiences for both children and adults. Last year's event drew more than 850 parents and kids.

The slate includes the following:

• Marine Life Interaction
• Recycling Arts & Crafts
• Nature & Environmental Take-A-Ways
• Food Drive – please bring canned and shelf stable foods and personal products to donate

Demonstrations, Exhibits, Experts and Take-A-Ways for the Whole Family

• The importance of Pollinating insects – Show & Tell
• Planting you own pollinator garden – Show & Tell & pollinator seed give away
• Bringing Back the Original Jersey Tomato – Show & Tell & Original Jersey tomato seed give away
• Environmentally Friendly Shellfish Replenishing–Demonstration
• Protecting the Watershed & Cleaning Up the Bay – Demonstration
• Trash Decomposition & the Environment
• The Ins and Outs of Recycling
• How to Compost
• Native Plants Exhibit
• Solid Waste and Wastewater Management

The event is sponsored by Ocean City's Environmental Commission and held in partnership with the Cape May County Park Zoo, The Wetlands Institute, Rutgers University Agricultural Extension, Ocean County College, Ocean City Garden Club, Ocean City Free Public Library, Ocean City Methodist Church Food Pantry.
