'Family Values' Candidates Take Ocean City School Board
Seven were vying for three Board of Education seats and it appears one incumbent was unseated, according to unofficial results.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — The numbers are very close, but it appears that Jocelyn Palaganas, Michael Allegretto and incumbent Robin Shaffer have been elected to the Ocean City Board of Education.
These are the unofficial results from the Cape May County Clerk and note that they will remain unofficial until certified, which must happen by Nov. 22.
Seven candidates were vying for three open seats on the board and the highly-contested race has concluded in a close call.

Allegretto, running on the "Traditional Family Values" ticket, earned the most votes at 1,985. His running mate Palaganas won 1,685 votes and incumbent Shaffer, running on the "Conservative Family Values" ticket, got 1,416 votes.
However, candidate Corey Niemiec was only four votes behind with 1,412. With provisional and mail-in ballots still to be counted, these numbers could fluctuate.

Shaffer's running mates, Steve Flogaus and Kevin Schaffer, won 1,122 and 1,243 votes, respectively.
Incumbent Cecilia Gallelli-Keyes, a member of the school board since 2014, earned the fewest votes in the race at 1,005. She was running on the "Leadership, Trust, Dependability" slogan.
