Five Things to Know About City Council's Thursday Agenda
A flood insurance presentation, beach replenishment funding and public employee contracts are on the agenda.

City Council has a full agenda for its public meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, in Council Chambers on the third floor of .
The city is now providing the public with complete City Council meeting agenda packets (agenda, copies of relevant ordinances and resolutions, and supporting documentation) on the "City Meeting Calendar" on the city's website (ocnj.us). - City Council and the public will hear a report on the Community Rating System (CRS) Program that defines flood insurance premiums. At the last council meeting, Councilman Pete Guinosso reported that — based partly on a decrease in year-round population — Ocean City lost points in the rating system that discounts flood insurance premiums.
- The Ocean City Environmental Commission will deliver its annual report to City Council.
- City Council will vote on the second and potentially final reading of an that would approve the borrowing of $617,500 to help fund an anticipated project that would pump sand to widen Ocean City's beaches before next summer. The new project would restore Ocean City beaches from the northernmost jetty near Seaspray Road to an area between 14th and 17th streets. Ocean City is responsible to fund 8.75 percent of the anticipated $10 million project, with the remainder funded by the Army Corps and state Department of Environmental Protection.Â
- City Council will vote to approve new labor contracts with municipal employees in two unions: the Communication Workers of America AFL-CIO, Local No. 1078 and the International Association of EMTs and Paramedics (IAFT), Local R3/347. Details will not be made public until council approves the collective bargaining agreements.Â
- City Council will vote to spend $20,950 to repair and resurface the track at Carey Field adjacent to .
