Five Things to Know About City Council's Thursday Agenda
The city anticipates a new round of beach replenishment.

City Council has a full agenda (see attached PDF) for its public meeting 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, in Council Chambers on the third floor of City Hall, but here are five things that might be of special interest:
- City Council will vote to borrow $617,500 and spend $650,000 to help fund its portion of an anticipated beach replenishment project that would pump sand onto the beaches from the north end of the island to 14th Street as part of a regular maintenance program. The bulk of the funding for the project, which would be completed before next summer, would come from the federal Army Corps of Engineers. The southern beaches in Ocean City are on a separate waiting list for Army Corps funding.
- The city's Environmental Commission will deliver its 2011 annual report.
- City Council will vote to advertise for bids for lumber and pilings to be used primarily for routine Ocean City Boardwalk repairs and replacements.
- City Council will vote to award a $364,000 contract to Gaudelli Bros., Inc., of Millville, for HVAC improvements at the Ocean City Music Pier.
- City Council will vote to amend the reappointment of Ethics Board member Stanley Pszczolkowski to reflect a five-year term.
