How Much Is COVID Spreading In Ocean City With Delta, Omicron
Coronavirus cases in Ocean City have doubled since Christmas Eve. The city reported 179 active cases on Monday, according to county data.
OCEAN CITY, NJ — COVID-19 cases in New Jersey continue to surge amid the season of holiday gatherings and the spread of the omicron variant. In Cape May County, the number of active cases has doubled in several towns since Christmas Eve (see-town-by-town data below).
According to the Cape May County Department of Health, there were 1,820 active cases in Cape May County on Monday, up from the 1,071 reported the previous week on Christmas Eve. Weekly data that is typically released by the county on Friday was distributed Monday due to the holiday.
In Ocean City, the number of coronavirus cases has doubled since the previous week. There were 179 active cases reported Monday, up from the 88 cases reported on Christmas Eve.

“The Omicron variant is spreading throughout the United States at record levels, so what we are seeing here in Cape May County is not unique,” said Cape May County Commissioner Director Gerald M. Thornton. “We ask everyone, especially those in higher risk categories, to get vaccinated to protect yourself and your families.”
County officials provided the following breakdown of active cases by town on Monday, with active case totals from Dec. 24 in parentheses:

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that 76,225 Cape May County residents have received at least one vaccine dose and 64,688 have been fully vaccinated.
According to the CDC, 70 percent of Cape May County’s population is fully vaccinated.
The Cape May County Department of Health is offering a mobile and centralized standalone vaccine clinic every week. These clinics will provide initial doses and booster shots of the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
Individuals that have received the Moderna vaccine must wait six months before receiving the booster shot. People who have taken the Johnson & Johnson vaccine need to wait two months before getting the booster.
