Jeep Invasion Postponed Due To Weather In Ocean City

The remnants of Hurricane Ian are expected to hit Ocean City this weekend. But some events will still go on.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — The New Jersey Jeep Invasion has been rescheduled due to the remnants of Hurricane Ian that are expected to hit the Jersey Shore this weekend.

The event, originally scheduled for Oct. 1 on the Boardwalk, will now be held on Oct. 23.

"Thank you for your cooperation, cancelling an event is the last thing we ever want to do, but you can't beat mother nature and your safety is always the biggest concern to us," the organizers wrote on social media.

"Rain, winds, and flooding, coupled with an abnormally high tide will make conditions unfit for a Jeep show on the boardwalk," organizers said.

However, the OCNJ Half Marathon on Oct. 2 will go on rain or shine, Mayor Jay A. Gillian said.

"While conditions here will be nothing like what Florida experienced, residents should be prepared to move vehicles in advance of heavy rain tonight and tomorrow and during anticipated tidal flooding on Saturday and Sunday," Gillian said.
