CAPE MAY COUNTY, NJ — Cape May County is one of the top tourism powerhouses in the nation, according to a new report from a digital travel magazine.

The May 2025 issue of Travel and Tour World (TTW) magazine named the county as a "Tourism Titan" and noted a shift in America's travel trends, county officials said in a news release. Counties are "quietly stealing the spotlight" away from the typical headlining major cities, according to the magazine.

"Cape May County's recognition as a top tourism destination is a testament to our tourism leaders, business owners, and community's dedication to preserving the natural beauty and rich history of our region," Cape May County Commissioner Director Leonard Desiderio said in a statement. "We are proud to offer visitors an unparalleled vacation experience that keeps them coming back year after year."

Cape May County had an 84 percent visitor return rate, generated $8.1 billion in visitor spending, collected $23 million in occupancy taxes, and hosted 12.1 million visitors in 2024, which were factors that placed the county among the top leaders in tourism in the U.S, officials said.

The county's offerings are more than just ocean and bay views, officials said, which contributed to their recognition.

"The county's pristine beaches, iconic boardwalks, eco and natural areas, family-friendly resorts, and historic attractions draw a wide range of visitors throughout the year," the news release read.

Other tourism titans listed are Sevier County, Tennessee; Door County, Wisconsin; Cuyahoga County, Ohio; Orange County, Florida; and Holmes County, Ohio.
