The market boasts on its Facebook page that it offers "great food with old fashioned service." Order from the butcher counter or deli, or you can get meals for takeout. Many residents and visitors alike have ordered Boyar's party trays for celebrations.
According to the Boyar's Market website, the story began in 1924 when Louis Boyar and his wife, Mary, left Woodbine to open a fruit and produce stand in front of their newly-rented Ocean City apartment.

"Mary operated the stand while Louis drove all around town 'huckstering' the fruit and produce from his truck," the website reads. "Little did they know, their fruit and produce stand was standing beside where the current Boyar's Market settles."
Shortly after, the Boyars built a house on Asbury Avenue and a fruit and produce stand out front. This expanded in the 1930s when Louis purchased the building next door.
"Louis and Mary Boyar planted their roots where the newly constructed Boyar's Market stands today," according to the website.
That building was demolished and rebuilt in the same spot in 2005.
"The Boyar's team prides themselves on their hard work and dedication to their store and continues to revolutionize the market," the website reads.
The market has been passed down through the generations over the past century and today remains a hallmark of Ocean City. While other mom & pop shops have closed over the past few years, Boyar's Market remains, ready to celebrate its 100th year.
