Dear Friends,

As this letter is posted on Good Friday, I ask all of Ocean City’s residents, second homeowners, visitors, business owners and anyone reading this letter to take a step back and think about how blessed we are and how far we have come since October 29, 2012.Â
The past several months have been challenging, but also personally inspiring. I think of the hundreds of volunteers who stepped forward to help their friends and neighbors, as well as those they didn’t know, in the aftermath of the storm. These volunteers gave their time to cook meals, donate food, clean out storm-damaged dwellings and assist with finding a warm bed for those who lost their homes.

I am truly grateful to everyone who helped to put our Community on the road to recovery. I am also grateful to those who provided input on the advisory flood maps in an effort to aid the City’s new coastal engineers. I am thankful for the positive relationship my Administration has with City Council and the many legislative issues we have accomplished that I believe will benefit our Community going forward.Â
I am very enthusiastic for the future of Ocean City and hope you will join me in our commitment to family and tradition this Easter Weekend. Generations of families have to come to enjoy Ocean City’s events so I encourage you, your family, friends and neighbors to experience all that is happening in town this weekend.Â
On Easter Saturday, the City will host the annual Woofin’ Paws Pet Fashion Show at 11:00 a.m. at Carey Stadium. This event is a must see for all ages of pet enthusiasts. At 2:30 p.m. Saturday, the Boardwalk Merchants sponsor the annual Easter Egg Hunt on the beach between 11thand 13ths Streets featuring over 100,000 eggs. Arrive early because the eggs disappear quickly!
On Easter Sunday, start your day with the Easter Sunrise Service at the Music Pier. This non-denominational service begins at 6:30a.m. and is uplifting for all who attend. Also on Easter Sunday, the annual Easter Fashion Promenade is held at the Music Pier. Judging begins at 1:00 p.m. sharp, so arrive a few minutes early and come dressed in your Easter best.Â
On behalf of my family and the City team, I wish each of you a very happy Easter and look forward to a great summer.Â
Warm regards,
Jay A. Gillian
Mayor
