What's in the forecast for the Fourth of July in Ocean City?

The question of the hour: What will the weather be like for the fireworks tonight?
The National Weather Service, as of 9 a.m. Wednesday (July 4), is on the fence. Here's the forecast:
"Scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 3 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 95. West wind 8 to 16 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms."

In the ocean, we're looking at a beautiful 72.3 degrees with calm water and small surf. And there doesn't appear to be any wave-generating weather in the near-term forecast this week.
Low tide on the oceanfront will be at 2:29 p.m. on Wednesday. High tide is at 8:50 p.m. — just before the start of the fireworks tonight.
