Ocean City 10-Mile and 5K Races on Dec. 14 Benefit Charity

An event in Ocean City on Dec. 14 offers runners and walkers a chance to compete in casual races at 10 miles or 5 kilometers and help the Waves of Caring toy drive at the same time.

The following is information on the 2013 Exodus Holiday Charity Run.

RACE DAY DETAILS:

All events take place on Saturday, Dec.14, at Exodus Integrated Wellness (623 Bay Ave, Ocean City, New Jersey).

The 10-mile race begins at 8:30 a.m. The 5K (3.1 miles) begins at 9 a.m.  Participants can walk or run this distance. Runners will begin the 5K race and Walkers will start 5 minutes behind.

A 1-mile Kids Run begins at 9:30 a.m. — ages 13 and under are considered “kids.” 

Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for each race regardless of age and sex. Results will be posted post race at Exodus and sent out by email. 

Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to receive your number and fill out a waiver form. You can register on race day, but it would be helpful to send in your name and age (by email info@exoduswellness.com or phone 609-399-0595) verifying your participation so we can have your number ready when you arrive.  Complimentary food and beverages will be provided before and after race.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

10 mile: 623 Bay Ave (Exodus) starting point.  North on Bay Ave To North Street.  East (right) On North to Boardwalk.   GO to End of Boardwalk and go south (left) on Wesley To 32nd and Wesley.  Turn around at 32nd and Wesley and back to Exodus the same route.

5K: 623 Bay Ave to North Street.  East on North To Boardwalk.  Continue Boardwalk to 5th Street.  West (right) on 5th Street Back To Bay.  Left on Bay to Exodus.

1 mile:  From Exodus right down 6th Street to West Ave.  Left on West Ave to 5th Street. Left on 5th to Bay Ave.  Turn Around and Back to Exodus. 

Water and Gatorade will be handed out for the 10-mile race at the 6-mile mark.  Please note: The race course will not be closed off to traffic.  The course will be marked with red ribbons and signs and will have race volunteers guiding the runners at designated areas.

REGISTRATION FEE:

All participants are asked to donate a gift to Waves of Caring for infants through ages of 13 as the registration fee. Please do not wrap the gifts. Among the most-needed items are infants' toys, young children’s educational items, gift sets for teenage girls, sports-related items and games.  Donations of money are welcome to provide special gift requests.

This race was intended to bring the people of the community together to share in the spirit of the holidays.  Thank you for being a part of this special day.
