Ocean City Beach Patrol To Hold Lifeguard Tryout

The Ocean City Beach Patrol is holding a lifeguard tryout on Sunday to replace the number of college-aged lifeguards returning to school.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — The Ocean City Beach Patrol is currently hiring lifeguards to replace the number of college-aged lifeguards returning to school this month.

The OCBP will hold a special rookie tryout on Sunday to hire lifeguards that can work from Aug. 16 through Labor Day with additional work in September available.

Any potential candidate must be available to work five days a week during that period.

The OCBP tryout involves ocean swimming, running, rowing, a surf dash and an interview. Successful candidates will be eligible to return to the patrol for the 2022 season if they meet requalification standards.

The one-day tryout will take place Sunday at 9 a.m.

Applicants must obtain a physical from a licensed physician prior to the tryout.
