Ocean City Police Receive 2 AEDs To Help Save Lives: Police

Ocean City Police were awarded with two Automated External Defibrillators by the Jennifer Ward Memorial Fund.

OCEAN CITY, NJ - The police force in Ocean City are now equipped with devices that can help save the lives of people who fall victim to sudden cardiac arrest. Ocean City Police was awarded two Automated External Defibrillators (AED) by the Jennifer Ward Memorial Fund, according to the Ocean City Police.

The AEDs are used for rapid response to someone undergoing cardiac arrest and are going to be in two traffic vehicles daily, according to the Ocean City Police.

The Jennifer Ward Memorial Fund was founded after Ward, a 29-year-old teacher, fell victim to sudden cardiac arrest and died on January 7, 2005. Her parents started the memorial fund, which has granted over 50 AED devices to worthy organizations in New Jersey. Additionally, they have donated over $25,000 in scholarships to students seeking medical schooling.

The two AEDs donated to the Ocean City Police have both been labeled with "Jen's AED" in honor of Ward, according to the Ocean City Police Department.
