Ocean City Pops Schedule: From Mancini to Movies Music

The local orchestra offers a diverse range of concerts on the Ocean City Music Pier.

Broadway singers Nat Chandler and Terri Dale Hanson join the Ocean City Pops 8 p.m. tonight (Tuesday, July 17) for a "Mancini and Moonlight" concert on the Ocean City Music Pier.

The event is the latest in a series of ongoing summer concerts for the popular local orchestra.

The concert will feature the timeless tunes of Henry Mancini, including Moon River and Days of Wine and Roses, and orchestral features such as The Baby Elephant Walk, Theme from Peter Gunn and The Pink Panther.

The concert is sponsored by the Scheible Family in memory of Jeanne Heller. Tickets are $20 and $12 and available through the Ocean City Music Pier online box office.

American actor and singing sensation Nat Chandler has appeared on Broadway in the title role of The Scarlet Pimpernel and in Children and Art. Other career highlights include Raoul in The Phantom of the Opera and a recent performance as King Arthur in Spamalot.

From opera to Broadway, Teri Hansen has received international recognition for her crossover abilities as a singing actress. Hansen began her career as "Rose" in the film version of Kurt Weill's Street Scene (BRAVO! Channel and for the premiere production in Berlin at the Theatre Des Westens, Francesca Zambello Director). She also starred in the world premiere of Broadway Dreams in March of 2008 as the gala finale of the Kurt Weill Festival in Dessau, Germany and was the first American ever to perform at the Kurt Weill Festival (Dessau) with Lys Symonette at the piano in 1995.

  • "Night at the Movies": The Brandywine Singers join the POPS! Featured film music includes The Mission, DaVinci Code, Saving Private Ryan, E.T., Star Wars, Platoon, How the West Has Won, Henry V, Gone With The Wind and many others. 8 p.m. Sunday, July 22, $15 and $10.
  • Violinist David Kim: Kim plays Saint-Saen's No. 3 Concerto. Join us in welcoming back this illustrious concertmaster of the Philadelphia Orchestra to Ocean City. The concert also featuring POPS' Competition winner, Alexander Bui, performing Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue. Bui is a graduating senior from Egg Harbor Township High School and is preparing to attend NYC's prestigious Manhattan School of Music. 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, $15 and $10.
