OCEAN CITY, NJ — Oh Sea Thrift, a donation-based thrift store, recently made a $5,000 donation to the Humane Society of Ocean City.

The new store opened its doors over the summer with a mission to support the humane society’s mission. Any profits that Oh Sea Thrift makes from selling second-hand home goods, clothing and furniture are donated to the Humane Society of Ocean City.

“They came in and presented us with a $5,000 check to not only help our dogs and cats here at the shelter but also help fund new equipment and resources for our animal control program,” the humane society announced on Facebook. “These improvements will enable us to provide reliable, timely and safe service to our towns’ domestic pets and its beautiful wildlife.”

“Generous donations, like those of Oh Sea Thrift are what enable us to do what we do for the animals and their owners and today we could not be any more honored and proud to be a part of such a wonderful and caring community,” the humane society said.

The owner of Oh Sea Thrift, Donna Kelly, used to volunteer at the Humane Society of Ocean City. She spent many mornings taking dogs for walks before the shelter even opened its doors.

Kelly, who has lived in Ocean City full-time for 20 years, loves all animals and as a volunteer she found that the Humane Society of Ocean City's staff shared her passion.

Oh Sea Thrift is open Friday through Monday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 841 Central Ave.
