Popular Ocean City-Area Campground Wins Tripadvisor Award

MARMORA, NJ — A local campground was named one of the best in the country, according to travel website Tripadvisor.

Whippoorwill Campground, in Marmora just 3 miles from Ocean City, is one of the recipients of the 2025 Tripadvisor Travelers' Choice awards. The campground is operated by Thousand Trails campgrounds and Encore RV resorts, which had 55 properties awarded. This is the first win for Whippoorwill Campground.

"It's incredibly exciting to see 55 of our campground resorts honored with the Tripadvisor Travelers' Choice award, a recognition that reflects the amazing experiences our guests enjoy every day," said Pat Zamora, vice president of marketing for Thousand Trails and Encore. "It's a tribute to the dedication of our on-site teams, whose hard work and attention to customer service make it possible for our guests to create unforgettable memories during their stays."

Tripadvisor collects customer reviews, ratings, and saves shared by travelers across the globe and uses the information to spotlight top destinations with the Travelers' Choice award. Travelers' Choice recognizes businesses that earn consistently great reviews and according to Tripadvisor, only about 10 percent of businesses listed on the site receive a Travelers' Choice award.

"At Whippoorwill, you'll find fine resort accommodations nestled in a serene, wooded seashore setting," the campground's website reads. Set up a tent, bring your RV or rent one of their air-conditioned cabins.

The campground offers a variety of amenities like a pool, kiddies' pool, sports court, sanded playground, snack shack, arcade and more. Also, Whippoorwill offers weekly themed activities for children and adults.

To qualify for the Travelers' Choice award, businesses must maintain an overall Tripadvisor bubble rating of at least four out of five, receive a minimum number of reviews in the 12-month period in which the data was analyzed, and be listed on Tripadvisor for at least one year.

Whippoorwill Campground currently has a 4.3 bubble rating on Tripadvisor.
