Severe Thunderstorm Watch In Effect For Cape May County
Severe storms, damaging winds and large hail are in the forecast for Friday, according to the National Weather Service.
CAPE MAY COUNTY, NJ — The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for several counties in New Jersey, including Cape May County.
The watch is in effect until 6 p.m. on Friday, the National Weather Service said.
Showers are set to be ushered into the state Friday morning by 11 a.m., with the possibility of thunderstorms to begin after 3 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. Friday: Showers and thunderstorms likely, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 3 p.m. Some storms could be severe, with large hail and damaging winds. High near 75. Southeast wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Friday night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 10 p.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. Some of the storms could be severe. Patchy fog. Low around 62. Southeast wind around 5 mph becoming northwest after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Saturday: A slight chance of showers between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 80. Northwest wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
Saturday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8 p.m. Mostly clear, with a low around 60. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 81. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon.
Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 62.
