OCEAN CITY, NJ — Ocean City High School students were evacuated and dismissed early on Tuesday as police investigated a potential shooting threat at the school.
On Tuesday morning, school officials were notified of a screenshot of a text message threatening a shooting at the school, according to city spokesperson Doug Bergen.
"Ocean City High School was evacuated immediately and students dismissed for the day. Everyone is safe," Bergen said.

Parents were alerted through SwiftReach late Tuesday morning that evacuation procedures had been initiated. A follow-up alert at 12:30 p.m. said students would be dismissed in the next 30 minutes through busing, student-owned transportation and parent pick up.
"An investigation is ongoing, but at this point, police do not believe the threat was credible," Bergen said. "Police searched the building, and the school will be back to a regular schedule tomorrow."
