Summer Recreation Brochure Now Posted Online

Online registration for Ocean City's popular summer programs opens on May 1.

The brochure of Ocean City's summer recreation programs for 2013 is now viewable from the city’s website or by clicking on the PDF attached to this story.

Thousands of people each summer participate in a wide array of programs in the arts, academics and athletics. The summer recreation brochure includes 36 pages of different programs catering to every age and interest.

Space is limited in some programs, so potential participants are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the choices before online registration opens on May 1:

  • FITNESS/DANCE CLASS: This class is a dance-based and high-energy conditioning fitness class. This class is designed to maintain strength and flexibility conditioning as a vital portion that is necessary in practicing safe tumbling.
  • RECREATIONAL TUMBLING CLASS: This is an open gym class designed for cheerleaders, dancers and gymnasts. Children will work on strength, flexibility and balance. Ages: 7 – 12 yrs.
  • JUNIOR LIFEGUARD PROGRAM: Participants will learn skills necessary for trying out for the beach patrol and will compete in outside competitions with other junior lifeguard programs. Registration fee includes membership to Junior Lifeguard Association.  Ages: 14 – 16 yrs.

For years, sign-ups for summer recreation programs involved long lines and long waits in what turned out to be a community gathering on registration day at the Civic Center, but the implementation of online registration in 2011 has proven successful and convenient for participants.
