Three Indicted For Cape May Drug-Induced Death: Police

Susan E. Mazzone, 43, Lauren M. Dorff, 31, Sherman R. Martin, 44, face charges from a death that resulted from illicit drugs.

CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE, NJ - Three people have been indicted for the drug-based death of a man in July. Susan E. Mazzone, 43, Lauren M. Dorff, 31, Sherman R. Martin, 44, were indicted in the death of Eric Nolan, 35, on July 28, according to the Cape May Prosecutor's Office.

Mazzone, Dorff and Martin were indicted by the grand jury on October 23 of the drug-related death and other charges, according to the Cape May Prosecutor's Office.

  • Mazzone was indicted with with Drug induced death, three counts of possession with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance and conspiracy to distribute a controlled dangerous substance.
  • Dorff was indicted with drug induced death and possession with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance.
  • Sherman was indicted with two counts of possession with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance and conspiracy to distribute a controlled dangerous substance.

The drug induced death charge is first degree crime, with all others being third degree crimes, according to the Cape May Prosecutor's Office. The three will be facing 10 to 20 years for each first degree crime and 3 to 5 years for each third degree crime.

The crimes stem from the death of Nolan, who was found unresponsive in his home in Lower Township on July 28, according to the Cape May Prosecutor's Office. After a death investigation, Mazzone, Dorff and Martin were charged with his death on August 10.
