Triple Crown Jockey to Visit Stainton's on Saturday

Ron Turcotte will receive a key to the city from Mayor Jay Gillian at a 1:45 p.m. event Aug. 4.

Ron Turcotte, the Hall of Fame jockey who captivated millions when he led Secretariat to win the Triple Crown in 1973, will receive a key to the city from Ocean City Mayor Jay Gillian at 1:45 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 4)

The event takes place at on the 800 block of Asbury Avenue. The public is invited to meet Turcotte  and to celebrate thoroughbred racing at "It's My Derby," 2 to 6 p.m. at Stainton's, 810 Asbury Avenue.

Turcotte is known for his extraordinary accomplishments both as a jockey and as an enduring advocate supporting disabled jockey awareness as well as equine research, therapy and care. In his 17 year career, he won more than 3,000 races, setting track records that remain unbroken today.
