BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — Just a few weeks after a luxury rental building officially opened in Franklin Lakes, another similar community in Bergen County is cutting the ribbon this week.

Hackensack's The Jefferson — comprised of one- and two-bedroom apartments that are priced between about $2,100 and $4,200 — is formally opening at 2 Kinderkamack Road on Wednesday, the realtor said in a release.

"Extraordinary... just one word to describe what is happening in (the seat of Bergen County)," realty company Garden Communities said in a social media post. "The Jefferson puts you at the heart of it."

The ribbon cutting coincides with the grand opening of the complex's outdoor amenities — "effectively putting the finishing touches on (the)... at-home resort lifestyle" — and will occur just after new high-end rentals opened on the west side of the county.

Outdoor amenities include a heated pool and sundeck, landscaped courtyards, fire pits, barbecues and dining areas, yoga and meditation gardens, and a dog run. Meanwhile, indoor attractions include a fitness center, private bowling alleys, a billiards and game room, and a coffee bar.

Also boasting oversized windows and private balconies in almost every apartment, The Jefferson "let(s) you live the way you want" with washers and dryers, gourmet center-island kitchens, and individually controlled air and heat, the Short Hills realtor said.

Blending sophistication and suburban living on "acres upon acres" of amenities, The Jefferson has seen "strong leasing interest" since its introduction in mid-2022, the realtor added.

The complex is a flagship for Garden Communities, which — the realtor said — has a "robust project pipeline" that will introduce dozens of new communities in the region over the next several years.

"Further establishing (Hackensack's) emerging 'uptown' neighborhood," The Jefferson is the "cornerstone" of the city's renewal, the agency said in a release and on its website.
