Paramus Hospital Offering Jobs, Free Meals To Federal Workers

Prospective employees could receive immediate job offers and start in as little as 2 days.

PARAMUS, NJ — Bergen New Bridge Medical Center is offering temporary jobs and free meals to all furloughed federal government employees and their families.

Furloughed employees can apply for jobs, received immediate offers, and be brought on board in as little as two business days.

Furloughed federal employees can visit the medical center's Bistro Cafe and The Daily Grind for meals. Valid federal government identification is required to receive free meals.

"As a community provider, we want to support our government colleagues and their families by offering something meaningful," said Deborah Visconi, president and CEO of Bergen New Bridge Medical Center. "I can think of nothing else more significant than offering short-term gainful employment and extending free meals to these workers and their families."

Other Bergen hospitals are also helping furloughed employees.

Holy Name Medical Center is waiving co-pays and deductibles and Hackensack University Medical Center enacted a similar policy last week.
