Things were looking good for Nick Alpher coming in to the first day of the NJSIAA state wrestling tournament in Atlantic City. The 145-pound grappler earned a first-round bye, giving him time to rest before facing Montville's Parker Meytrott in the pre-quarterfinals. The time was well spent. Alpher bester Meytrott in a one-sided match that wasn't as close as its 5-0 score. He moves on to face Ray Bethea of Trenton on Saturday. Check back with Patch to see how he does in the tournament's second day.
